LEGAL UPDATE: Online Trademark Filling During Lockdown
Issue: No. 020 P/21 – 28 April 2021
The Royal Government of Cambodia has issued Decision on temporarily lockdown measure of Phnom Penh and Ta Khmao City of Kandal province to prevent the spread of Covid-19 to other areas.
During this strict lockdown, The Ministry of Commerce (“MOC”) has issued an announcement No. 0869 on Online applying and filing for a trademark. MOC has temporarily suspended in-person requirements and other related works for trademark registration, but available accessed tasks through online until April 28, 2021 or can be extended if necessary.
In addition, there are methods for those who have opened a trademark management account as following:
- Trademark Agents can access on filing via the Ministry’s official webpage: efiling.cambodiaip.gov.kh.
- General applicants (individual or legal entities) can access new filing and other tasks on trademark via email: marksreception@gmail.com.
Public service fees related to trademark registration may be paid through Canadia Bank Plc, Acleda Bank Plc or Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia (FTB) to the Department of Intellectual Property’s account number 1518.
